Andi (Andria) Kebric Asher

I didn't attend the 50th reunion, I was in New York celebrating my 50th wedding anniversary. 4 months after graduationg OHS I married my senior year boyfriend Ron Asher an OHS '55 grad.
I worked at the Oakland Tribune for 6 years becoming manager of the classified advertising department until our first child was born. We have 2 children, a son on the west coast and a daughter on the east coast, both graduated from Campolindo High in Moraga. Our 4 grandkids are ages 16-21.
We opened a Big O Tire store in Oakland 46 years ago and still have several in the bay area and Sacramento area , which our son runs with a school buddy.
While we were building our businesses, I started a national women's organization to support the company business.
I had 4 of my own businesses, a gourmet tea business called Bountiful Blends, which was blended, packaged and shipped by a mentally challenged workshop.
An interior design and home accessory business and a floral design business.
I started a personal color analysis business 30 years ago which I still do today.
I also led a personal fitness water and land program.
We moved to Palm Desert 21 years ago. I started playing golf and am very active in the women's golf organization at my club.
When Ron and I aren't in the desert we spend time in Maui and Tahoe, and traveling. My family and I have been blessed with health and good fortune.
See you soon, Andi

Ten years after graduating from OHS, I completed a degree in marketing at SF State, followed by two careers.  For 25 years, I held various marketing positions at AT&T, Pacific Telephone, Pacific Bell, and SBC.  Following early retirement, I sold sailboats, in Alameda,  for the past twelve years.

For entertainment, I raced Formula Ford cars for a few years, followed by 20 years racing sailboats, on the Bay and offshore.  Along with racing cars and boats, I've maintined a life-long passion for jazz music.

There may be some travel in my future, with a sailing and motorsports theme.  Viewing an America's Cup regatta, as well as Formula One races, are both on my radar.  Mainly, though, I'll be working on growing old gracefully.

Moved to Vancouver, Washington in 1991 and married my 3rd husband George Banks in 1992.  He passed on in Oct. 1997.  I have a daughter by my first husband and three grandsons. They all live in California. I've been with my partner for the last 5 years.  We love to ball room dance and travel. We have a 37ft RV and we go to Arizona for 2 to 3 months for the winter. Two couples meet up with us and we go dancing two or three times a week. I own and drive a Dusk Rose 57 T-Bird.  Looking forward to the Reunion.

I have been married to my husband, Lou, for 47 years now. We have spent most of those years in the Chicago area. He currently chairs the Theology Department at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. My main “career” has been homemaker and partner in Lou’s ministry. We have three children—a son and family in Michigan, another son and family in Arizona and a daughter in heaven. We have nine grandchildren who are truly grand!

1. Did a lot of traveling in the United States—from Washington, Oregon all the way to New York and Florida.   Been married for 45 years—have two wonderful sons, both living in Texas and two grandchildren.  Still working, at a Texas Fish Hatchery/visitor center—like my job—will stay until I don’t like it anymore.

2. Would like to travel overseas—maybe next year to Italy

From Carol to Caroline: My story is that of a "thriving survivor" because of faith in Yeshua, my Messiah. To paraphrase a part of Psalm 63:  I have looked for God in the sanctuary; to see and praise His power and glory. His loving kindness is better than life!!

After graduating from U.C. Berkeley in 1963, I became an Alameda County Probation Officer. Affected deeply by the Civil Rights Movement, I soon knew that I would not help anyone in this system.  After two years, and a bout with what is called "a psychotic break", I traveled in South America with my friend. The cultures, the poverty, and third world politics deeply affected my world view.  Highlight:  Sleeping overnight on a terrace in Machu Picchu ... with alpacas and a full moon!!

Soon I taught elementary school in the Bay Area. Two years in Germany teaching American army kids in Kaiserslautern, led to travel there and in Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, and Holland. Short trips to London, Paris, and Rome were wonderful!

Depression and suicidal thoughts crept in: born of early childhood abuse and my choices.  For healing, after psychosis "hit" again, I delighted in studying anthropology (Native Americans), interpretive reading, and creative dramatics. I taught in San Jose, married, gave birth to two beautiful daughters. My little girls and I escaped abuse, came to Denver to live with my sister, and then coped with my husband's suicide.

I married again and taught grades 4/5 in a bilingual program, utilizing my Spanish. I developed a curriculum based on the "migrant map" ...  ("We all came here in different ships, but we're in the same boat now” :>) ... an historical perspective of the U.S. tapestry of cultures with emphasis on human rights/culture conflict.    Blessed with a Master's degree grant in Education (Literacy Curriculum Development for Second Language Learners), I produced theatrical/dance/artistic events honoring various cultures and heroes and sheroes.

The last two years of 29, I taught a school-wide integrated arts program: poetry, dance, theater, art, and music with a diversity emphasis.  At age 60, healing came through my faith. I celebrate the Hebrew roots (Messianic studies, observing the Torah, the "Appointed Times" in the Old Testament) combined with Yeshua's Gospel.  I will travel on service-related trips, and will continue as Grammy-Nanny for three miracles ... grand-children ages 8, 7, and 1.

After 18 years of a second marriage, I am single. I will publish a book ...  a memoir with poetry (my reading the verse on C.D.).  I camp, hike, bike, swim, embroider, and garden! I volunteer at my grand-girls' school: publishing kids' poetry; teaching multi-cultural lessons (events and the folks and folk dance); and English as a Second Language for adults.  A dream: to give hope to folks in my "urban cabin" (through Biblical studies, the arts, cooking, gardening, and writing) ... particularly those who have suffered violence through abuse of all sorts.  Once I had a dream of having a real cabin in the Rockies to use for ministry!

1. As some of you know, Gary and I were married two weeks after Oakland High class of '59 high school graduation. Therefore, this 50 year reunion is very significant to us as we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary on June 28th, 2009. Over the last 50 years, we've had many successes and a few failures. But our great accomplishments, by far, were our children, which include two boys, three girls, seven grandsons, seven granddaughters, and one great-grand daughter.

I worked in Alameda County's Social Services Department for 21 years.  During this time, I loved my job because I loved helping people.  I retired at 62 years of age and have been loving my new full time job as a wife, mother and great-grandmother. My biggest regret in life is the fact that I never pursued my passion for dancing or costume design. But I still have had a great 50 years.  I thank God for my health and my family.  I look forward to seeing you all again at the reunion.

2. I hope to live as long as my dad (currently 93 and just got remarried).

I spent the first ten years, after graduating from OHS, working for an investment firm in San  Francisco. I married Heinz Berger in 1965. Heinz became a geotechnical (civil) engineer shortly thereafter.

We have raised a son Ted and a daughter Monika. Ted is a marketing director in Chicago, and Monika is a teacher in Concord. I was a stay at home mom, and managed my children’s modeling career for several years. Heinz’s career has taken us to many interesting places.

We have four grandchildren. A seven year old boy, a six year old girl, and three year old twin boys. I have both my parents, which is so fortunate. They have been married over 71 years and live independently. I love to travel, decorate, garden, and have recently taken up painting (pictures). I am a breast cancer survivor. I am proud to say that I have kept my nose clean and not done any jail time.
